Eating Crow

Congrats to the Raiders on a gutsy, well played, win over the Steelers, 34-31. Sebast in the house (Janikowski kicked a 43-yard field goal on the last play as the Raiders scored the final 13 points).

I must admit, the way the Raiders played in the first two weeks of the 2012-13 season, I didn't think we had much of a chance to beat the Steelers. My last post was, "Looking at 0-3" (I've archived that post so you won't see it).

I am sorry, I apologize to all Raiders fans. Also, I've not shown my face in the Facebook Raydah Nation at all these last few days and I certainly won't now.

Not because I am not a diehard Raider's fan, but because I've been very critical of Carson Palmer. I have to give the guy credit, he played well today, and he made plays when we needed it the most. Hats off to C.P.

Raiders vs Chargers

As soon as Chris Berman and Trent Dilfer began to talk about new Raiders coach Dennis Allen, and how the "new look" Raiders will be more disciplined, the penalties start. Tyvon Branch gets a holding penalty and Tommy Kelly jumps offside on two plays in the same drive, in which the Chargers scored their first TD.

The Raiders had a nice drive going in the first quarter, Rod Streater fumbles the ball. Another nice drive starting out, Taiwan Jones botches a pitch on a reverse, loss of about 30 yards.

McFadden looks good; Raider defense looks decent (too many mistakes though), other than that, looks like the Raiders of old.

3rd down 10, from the 16 yard line, less than 20 seconds to go in half and we get a delay of game penalty. 4th down on the 1.5 yard line, Raiders settle for a Janikowski FG. I'm not seeing any discipline.

Start of the 2nd half, drive stalled, punt snapped on the ground, Raider turnover. I'm on the east coast, eastern time zone, it's 8 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and it is 12:20am. Chargers are moving the ball and outplaying the Raiders. The score is 10-6 San Diego, but they are in the red-zone.

22-14, game, set, match.. Oh well, it's game number 1 of 16, hopefully we will get it together ..
