Apology to Derek Carr - NOT

10/11/2015, I take my apology back. Carr BITES!

The Raider defense played their tails off against Peyton Manning and the Broncos, week 5, and how does Carr repay them? By throwing a pick-6 that ultimately cost us a chance at a W.

Derek Carr does not read defenses well, he consistently throws off the wrong foot, throws the ball when his feet are not set, and he tries to rely on his arm strength, which usually leads to unnecessary and costly turnovers. Still proud to be a Raiders' fan, but I call it like I see it and Carr stinks!

I'm a proud, die-hard, lifetime Raider's fan. Proud, yes, but I can gladly set pride aside and say, I owe Derek Carr an apology. I've been a staunch critic of Derek, but the young man is beginning to step up to the plate.

Granted, we beat the woeful Cleveland Browns, but when you look at his stats - 20-32, 314 yards, 2 TDs - we're beginning to see the makings of a very good quarterback.

I'm still not quite sure what happened in Week 1, but I think most of the blame for that performance would have to fall on the coaches for not having the team ready to play. But two wins in a row, along with Carr getting his first ever 'road win', Week 1 is forgotten.

Last week against the Ravens, Carr's stat-line was 30-46, 351 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT. Not bad, not bad at all.

The paragraphs below is when I was disillusioned to actually believe that this guy was a decent QB.

Derek ranks 6th in QBR Rating with a 77.9 after Week Two. His rating should actually improve after his Week Three performance. *** Not anymore, he needs to stop throwing pick-6's.

Rounding out the top 10 in QBR efficiency are: Matt Ryan at #7, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tony Romo, and Teddy Bridgewater at #10. Considering the fact that Amari Cooper is a stud and balling out in his rookie season, who will at some point begin to command double coverage, Crabtree will be the same Crabtree he was with the 49ers except with a better signal caller.

Yes, I'm jockin' Carr, but as a 30+ year fan of the Silver and Black, I have every right to criticize when I think my team, or a player is not playing up to his potential, or whether or not said player has potential. I am the quintessential, arm-chair quarterback, and proud of it..

We're 2-1, things are looking up, we're gaining confidence, see ya in Chicago!
