2019-20 Raiders

I realize that it is only the preseason, but we have a TEAM! Gruden and Mayock have put together an embarrassment of riches.

TE Darren Waller, who may not be the starter if Luke Wilson has anything to say about it. This 6'6" 255 lb athlete - with speed, 4.46 '40' time - from Georgia Tech can also play the wideout position.

Rio 'Smurf' Gafford from Wyoming, this guy played on both sides of the ball. Looks like the Raiders will have him returning punts, kickoffs, and wide receiver, but this dude is a straight baller. In college, playing corner, part-time, he was a Deion clone and a ballhawk. He's listed at 5'10" but I highly doubt that. Gafford is about the same size as Tyreek Hill with the Chiefs and maybe smaller. In the preseason game against the Cardinals, he scored on a 50+ yard TD pass from Mike Glennon.

The Raiders can also play 'Smurf' in the slot, and he is the type of player that can take it to the house from anywhere on the field; the Raiders have multiple players who have that ability.

Tyrell Williams, who came over from the Los Angeles Chargers, will start at one wideout position. He came into his own last season.

Hunter Renfro, 2-time NCAA Champion - Mr. Clutch - will make a very good slot receiver and security blanket for Carr.

J.J. Nelson from the Arizona Cardinals may be the fastest Raider. His scouting combine 40-time was 4.28!

Josh Jacobs
is scary! Dangerous! Catching passes out of the backfield, running between the tackles, super lateral quickness, returns punts (although he won't return punts with the Silver and Black). Click on his name and watch a few of his Alabama highlights; he's also an exceptional blocker to boot.

The depth at the RB position is crazy. Doug Martin will be backing up Jacobs, then you have DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard. Oh, and gotta give a shout-out to OT Richie Incognito, he didn't play last year but he still has that nasty disposition on the field. I see why he often gets in little skirmishes with D-lineman, he gets up in yo chest.

The defense played extremely well. After Kyler Murray's debut, I thought he'd have some success against the Raiders, but they shut him down. He couldn't turn the corner on his scrambles because of the speed of the defense.

Clelin Ferrell, Arden Key, and even Quinton Bell from the SWAC are looking good. The LB crew is solid featuring Tahir Whitehead, Vontaze Burfict (looks like he could lose a couple pounds), and Brandon Marshall.

Rookies Jonathan Abram and Trayvon Mullen are solid. The starting DBs should be Karl Joseph at SS, Lamarcus Joyner FS, Daryl Worler RCB, and Nevin Lawson playing the nickel back.

I watched the Raiders preseason game against the Cards a few times. As I was thinking about the potential of my boys and that we have an embarrassment of riches! And then I thought, wait a minute, I forgot all about the best receiver in the NFL, Antonio Brown, and he's in phenomenal shape.

Roethlisberger and the Steelers can say what they want publicly, big Ben is going to miss AB. And JuJu Smith is no Antonio Brown, don't even think about it. To lose AB and Le'Veon Bell, and rely primarily on the Steelers signal caller, will ultimately cost Mike Tomlin his job because he should not have allowed that happen... cause ain't no dayuum way I'm losing Le'Veon and Antonio... NO WAY!
